Tahoe | Winter 2018

It amazes me that only a four-hour drive away from the hustle and bustle of San Francisco is our very own outdoor playground.

I absolutely love getting away to Tahoe for the weekend any time of the year. I have been to the north and south Lake Tahoe during both winter and summer time and they never disappoint.

This most recent visit I was with my boyfriend and a small group of friends to go skiing and snowboarding.

Unfortunately, there wasn't that much snow, but still enough for us to shred or fall down the slopes.

We stayed in a cute cabin in Carnelian Bay which is on the north side of Lake Tahoe. The house had three bedrooms and two baths. One of the bedrooms was a loft above the living room space which was pretty cool.

After getting a good nights rest we had breakfast and coffee in the morning and headed to the ski resort.

We split up into two cars because we did not all fit in one car, but two of us also had to rent our snowboarding gear before heading to the resort.

This was my first experience renting from a local shop in Tahoe instead of at the resort and I highly recommend this if you need to rent your gear. It was super affordable and the guys working were extremely helpful and fast.

We rented our gear at Tahoe Dave's Skis & Boards at their King's Beach location. It was about $30 cheaper to rent our gear here than at the ski resort, so I definitely recommend this if you're trying to save some money.

After getting our gear we headed to the Northstar California Resort to purchase our lift tickets and get out onto the slopes.

I personally am not a very skilled snowboarder. I mainly leaf or stay on my heel-side to get down the slopes.

My boyfriend was trying to teach me to use my toe-side, but I wasn't quite getting it. So I just stuck to heel-side, which was exhausting.

Luckily, at least one of my friends was not as comfortable with snowboarding came on this trip so we both stuck together on the bunny slope.

Overall, we all had a great time even though there was not that much snow.

After spending a little time at the resort we headed back to our cabin for some dinner and a relaxing and much needed soak in the hot-tub.

The following day we packed up our belongings and headed to the beach to see the lake.

This was really nice because the lake looked beautiful, but it was super windy and cold so we did not stay for long.

This basically sums up the functionality of our group.

After the beach we headed to Old Town Truckee, to check out the shops and get some lunch before our drive back home.

Definitely a great mini vacation for the books, or the blog. We will be coming back in the future for sure.
